Hallway lighting

Comfort and convenience of modern apartment depends on the lighting. In addition to natural lighting, a great role in this belongs to artificial lighting. Correct lighting is not only coziness and comfort, it is the appropriate atmosphere in your home, the optimal conditions for work and rest, a good mood. To create artificial lighting apply lamps of various types and different functional purposes. With the help of lamps you can give the interior of the room a peculiar style and appearance.

Hallway lighting: a business card at home
Not only does the theater begin with a hanger. The same can be said with respect to the house. Hallway – person apartments, the appearance of the lobby sets the mood of the rest of the rooms. In the hallway, as a rule, there are no windows, so the selection of fixtures must be paid close attention. The view of the hall will depend only on artificial lighting.
From an architectural point of view, the hallway is the most difficult room in the house. Rare apartment boasts a large and spacious hall. Increasingly, there are either too small and narrow rooms, similar to the vestibule, or uncomfortable dark rooms. But if you choose the right light, the hallway will cease to be only a room halfway from the staircase to the living room and rightfully take the place of the business card at home.
Primary light
Without a ceiling light in the hallway can not do, given its utilitarian purpose. After all, this is a wardrobe, and a link between the other rooms of the apartment. Most designers and architects agree that the hallway should be brightly illuminated. First, the amount of light in the hall should correspond to the illumination of the neighboring rooms in the evening and in the daytime. Secondly, a dark and dark hallway can spoil the impression of the whole apartment.
A simple and customary version of the main lighting is a ceiling light. You can choose any. If you opted for a single-lamp, it’s important to remember that it should not be too long, and do not interfere with moving around the room and opening the wardrobe doors.
In the hallway, a ceiling light is often placed: this solution is not only functional, but also able to give the interior an identity. For small and low rooms, the ceiling light is best suited. Its main advantage is that it takes up little space. In a hall with a suspended ceiling, it is appropriate to abandon a single lamp and place spotlights along the perimeter of the ceiling. Such a decision will help visually increase the room.
For convenience in the hallway you can install an automatic light switching system. Entering the street, you do not have to search for a switch in a dark room for a long time. Lamps are controlled based on sensors that respond to movement. The light in the hallway will turn on automatically – you just have to move or clap your hands. Correctly installed system reacts to movement only at a certain height, therefore the movement of pets will not be noticed.
On whichever of these options you have not stopped, it is important to remember: a lamp in a small hallway should create a diffusing light. Directed downward bundles of direct light in narrow hallways are contraindicated.
The upper light in the hallway is often complemented by wall lighting. Vertical illumination of the walls visually increases the space of the hallway. Too high ceiling can fix the wall lights with an adjustable angle of rotation: if you direct the light on the walls, the ceiling will appear lower. And to illuminate the entrance, the wall lamp near the door is perfect. An indispensable condition for placing wall lamps: they must be fastened above human growth, at an altitude of about two meters.
Local Lighting
The hallway performs several utilitarian tasks in the house, therefore it is necessary to highlight each of the functional elements of the room. This is usually a wardrobe and a mirror, and if the size of the room allows – then a small sitting area with a chair.
An indispensable attribute of the hallway is a mirror. Often it is built into the wardrobe or closet. In this case, the lighting can be arranged by means of a cornice with built-in lights with an adjustable angle of rotation, or light sources on flexible movable brackets.
If the mirror serves as a separate element of the decor, it needs its own illumination. The best place to place the fixtures is the top of the mirror frame. Light is needed soft and diffuse – it should not create additional shadows and interfere with seeing the reflection. Optimal option – two lamps of a simple shape, symmetrically located on the sides of the mirror, or one in the center above it. If the phone is in the hallway, it is necessary to separately illuminate its area. For this purpose, a table lamp is perfect: for it you can provide a special shelf or place on a table on which there is a telephone.
Large and spacious hallways give the opportunity to create a small sitting area, in which there is an armchair and a coffee table or bedside table. In this corner the floor lamp will look great – similar lighting of the hallway is able from the threshold to set the mood of home comfort.
